UI CAMPUS NOTES -- IOWA CENTER FOR THE ARTS

TOUR OF 'OUTSIDE/IN' FEB. 14 -- Kathleen Edwards, curator of prints, drawings, photographs and new media at the University of Iowa Museum of Art, will lead a tour of the exhibition "From the Outside In: Photographs of Buildings" at 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at the University of Iowa Museum of Art. Admission is free to the museum and to the gallery tour.

"From the Outside In" will be on display at the museum through March 14. The exhibition features photographs of buildings and other architectural features, from pyramids to residential dwellings, gathered from the museum's permanent collection. The photographs are by a wide range of artists, including Julius Shulman, Toshio Shibata, Lynn Davis, Berenice Abbott, Eugene Atget, Walker Evans, William Christenberry and James Casebere.

The gallery tour will explore themes and subjects including the modernization of architecture, fine engineering, recording of architectural monuments, and time and change.

M.C. Ginsberg Objects of Art, Inc. of Iowa City is the corporate sponsor for public events at the UI Museum of Art during the 2001-02 season, through the University of Iowa Foundation.

The University of Iowa Museum of Art is located on North Riverside Drive in Iowa City. Museum hours are Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday noon-5 p.m. and Thursday and Friday noon-10 p.m. Admission is free. Public metered parking is available in the UI parking lots across from the museum on Riverside Drive and just north of the museum.
